Our Little Superhero

This is a picture that Carter did in church on Sunday. In his own words, "The teacher write Carter, and I cried and cried, and then the teacher colored Batman, and I was happy!"

It's been about two and a half weeks since Carter officially changed his own name to Batman. In the beginning, if you slipped and called him Carter, he would give you this condescending little chuckle and say, "No ... I'm Batman." But now his response to his given name has faded to an involuntary "I'm still Batman," spoken in the same reactionary tone as Michael Scott's "That's what she said."
Part of me still thinks this whole name-game thing is funny. Part of me is tired of getting strange looks in the grocery store every time I call out, "Batman, please stay with me!" I wonder how long it will be before Carter comes back to us?

That's too funny! My kids never did the different name thing...I feel ripped off now. I would love to call out some dumb random name in the store :)

That is awesome, when I was little I wanted my parents to call me Princess Lovely Locks. GEe I wish they still did.

Katie! That's hilarious! Not only do your kids have tons of great personality, but you're good at capturing it in the way you write! Thanks for the smile today!

Well, I just finished my first round of parent teacher conferences. Crazy. Anyway, I hope Carter is being batman for Halloween. He is a cutie. By the way, I still read your blog all the time. I just don't leave comments. I am usually to tired to think of a response. Betsy and I want to get together with you though. Maybe the day before Thankgiving. I think I am off work that day. Let me know what you think. We would probably have to meet in Salt Lake. Love ya!

Megan went through a phase where she insisted on being called Alissa. She got over it.

I am seriously crying tears right now. That is the most hilarious thing I have read in a while. I evidently insisted upon being called "Cinderella" when I was his age...wonder if my mom ever yelled that out in the grocery store. I might wet my pants...
