Postapalooza

Hoo boy, do we have some catchin' up to do!

The Move
We moved out of our home two weeks ago. We're living with my parents now, which is a sweet deal for us and a bum deal for them. We had planned to rent back from our buyers for a bit but that agreement fell through, leaving us with only two days to clear out. This turned out to be a blessing and a curse - a curse for obvious reasons, but leaving so quickly was easier emotionally. As I packed and cleaned during those two days, I was overcome with the memories that we had made in that home. Haley and I used to eat popsicles in the afternoons on this porch. The twins learned to walk right here. I used to pace here with Carter when he was croupy. Chris built this himself. It was awful - leaving that home felt to me like a part of us had died. So the blessing was that I only had to spend two days grieving! Now that we're gone I am so excited about the new house, but I still get a little choked up whenever I pass that home and don't pull into the driveway.

The New Digs
So that leads us to the next big news: our home plans have been submitted to the city, and building should begin in two weeks (knock on wood)! I'm so excited for this house. We're building only two blocks east of our old home, and we're very happy to be able to stay in the neighborhood that we love. Sorry about the lousy picture - I have no clue where our scanner is.
The Zoo
Carter's last preschool fieldtrip was to Hogle Zoo. Roberta and I checked the big girls out of school that day and took them along, which was fun. I think my kids were very underwhelmed by the zoo because we go to San Diego's so often, but they had a good time hanging out with the Loftuses and Mari & Lucy.
The Haircuts
I completely botched the twins' last haircuts, so I let Chris loose on them with the clippers. I think they look like albino monkeys.
The Carnival
Haley's school carnival was the other night and was much more fun that I'd expected it to be. The kids had a blast getting tatooed, eating, and playing in the bouncy houses, and I got to spend the evening catching up with friends from the old neighborhood.
And finally...
The Graduation
Carter, Caleb and Mari all graduated from Mrs. Stephanie's Preschool yesterday. We had a nice ceremony (my favorite part was the kid who threw his cap in the air and yelled "I did it!" after receiving his diploma) followed by a potluck lunch. I'm sad to see the kids' school year end, but I gotta be honest: I won't miss the 50-minute round-trip drives twice a day since we moved to drop off and pick up.

So, that catches us up to today. Phew! Tomorrow we're off to San Diego, so I'll be behind on my blogging again when we get back. But for now, that's all of our news!

I've been wondering when you would dig your computer out and get back to us. You new house looks nice. How long is it going to take to build. Will you get to pick out all the inside decor? Floors, counters, and stuff. Can't wait for it to be done.
