1st Ward Primary Talent Expo: The Highlights

  • The little guy whose talent was throwing a football to his dad clear at the back of the cultural hall
  • The innocent-looking sisters who sang a song that they'd written, which began with "If it was raining weiner dogs, I'd be happy for eternity" and ended with a gang sign and a "What Up?"
  • The boy who sang "Do Your Ears Hang Low" while his brother accompanied on the guitar, but finished singing before his brother had made it halfway through the song
  • The girl who read a story she'd written, entitled "Snakes Family Christmas"
  • Haley's piano solo
  • The Sunbeam who rolled herself in the curtain like a burrito and her two classmates who stood frozen onstage while the audience sang "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam" for them
  • The emcee who told jokes like "Why did the gangster cross the road? 'Cause he was stapled to the chicken!"
  • How Carter couldn't tear himself away from his cookie long enough to pose for a picture with his display
  • When I looked around and realized that the only two people in our new ward whose names I can remember are named Katie and Drew
And my Number One favorite highlight from the 1st Ward Primary Talent Expo:
  • When the Primary president stood at the microphone and announced, "I don't know if this is a problem, but a bunch of kids are running around the display area, and they're running with sharp wooden sticks that could impale them, so ..."

What a way to get immersed in new-ward culture! You always make great posts. To answer your question, we would like to come back to Utah eventually, but it will depend on jobs, of course. For the next year, we will be here. That darn dissertation...
