You Guys, I've Lost My Blogging Mojo!

Seriously.  Has this poor little blog become the most pathetic thing ever or what?  I swear I've had writer's block for about a year now.  I guess part of the problem lately is that the entire month of June was consumed by this:
Potty training.  Boys.  Two of them.  At the same time.  Oh, it was an exciting month.  Potty training the boys proved more bittersweet for me than I'd expected it to be, because I realized that I was closing a chapter of my life.  Now that my little guys are out of diapers, I'm officially done with my baby years.  And if I let myself wallow in "My babies aren't babies anymore!" I get sad, but really I'm excited to be able to do fun things with my kids without having to worry about all of the stuff that comes with babies and toddlers.

One day when I was up to my eyeballs in potty training accidents and thought I might lose it, we made Minion cupcakes for a distraction.   Who doesn't think the Minions are the best part of "Despicable Me?"   These cupcakes crack me up.  And I just love how excited the kids got about them.
Speaking of my kids getting older, Carter's gotten way into grown-up board games lately, and that's been nice.  His new favorites are Battleship, Clue, and Monopoly, which happen to be three of my top four games growing up.  So I've enjoyed playing games with him that are actually fun, instead of kiddie games like Backugan Brawl and Memory and Monopoly Jr. Disney Edition, all of which make me want to claw my eyes out from boredom.

What else happened in June?  We headed home to PG for Strawberry Days, which is always fun.
The next day was Father's Day.  I grilled ribs for Chris for dinner, which I'd never done before.  They were pretty good but kind of dry, so I need to try again and tweak the recipe a little.  Since Chris' favorite gifts are ones that don't cost any money, the kids gave him coupon booklets that they'd made.  Haley's coupons were for things like, "One hike together" and "Cleaning up the backyard," and Carter's coupons were all for things that he wanted.  "One free dog!"  "One free trip to LegoLand!"  And my personal favorite: "One free rocket ride!"
That evening was the most spectacular sunset I've ever seen.  I wish that our camera could have done it justice, because it was breathtaking.  Go here for a better picture.
I'll leave you with a picture that Chris took of Adam and me because he thought we were having a moment, but really I was just clipping Adam's nails.  Ha ha! I think it sums up our summer pretty nicely: laid-back and unremarkable, but nice.  We're having a great summer.

You need to keep blogging! I miss your posts. Just because you are clipping his toenails doesn't mean you can't have a moment, right? :)
