Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

I posted this picture on Facebook a while back and then forgot that I hadn't written about Haley's latest accomplishment here.  She won first place for 4th grade in the school science fair!
Haley's project was on peripheral vision.  She built a giant protractor (about two feet across) with a push pin stuck in it at 90-degrees.  She'd have her subjects hold the protractor just under their eyes and focus on the push pin, and then she'd move an object slowly into view from the side.  The subjects would tell her to stop when they could see the shape and color, and she'd record the angle at which they could see it.  Haley spent days and days studying the anatomy of the eye and all of the technical terms associated with vision so she'd be able to answer any of the judges' questions.  We're so proud of our little scientist!
