April
  • Carter’s first laugh.
  • Haley says her nose is “snuffy” instead of stuffy.
  • Haley: “Daddy, I love you too, but I miss Mommy.”
  • Carter laughs hysterically while I curl ribbon.
  • Haley, getting out of an elevator: “Hey! It changed into a new store!”

May

  • Carter yells at top of his lungs to be picked up.
  • Carter sits up (w/ help from hands).
  • Haley's first solo prayer: “Thanks for day, thanks for playing, bless to sleep well.”
  • Haley prints a coloring page off of nickjr.com without asking for help.
  • Carter rolls over (front to back).
  • Haley: “My blood hurts.”

June

  • Haley makes Carter laugh hysterically by hiding behind couch and jumping up.
  • Haley, on hearing some Latinos at the store: “Mommy! They’re speaking Spanish!”
  • Haley says that Daddy’s whiskers “look like sprinkles!”
  • Haley: “I’m going to find a boy and get married in the temple by Grandma’s house.”
  • Carter's first solids.
  • Carter’s first haircut.
  • Carter sits unassisted.

July

  • Haley cries because she forgot to take her stuffed dog to the fireworks: “I really wanted him to see them!”
  • Carter cries the whole evening with Lenn, but later when Lenn asks him if they’re OK, Carter luges for him and gives him a big hug.
  • Haley’s new favorite game is “Mail Girl,in which she puts a picture in an envelope and delivers it to a friend or family member.
  • Haley asks, “What happens if ...?” about 27,000 times a day.
  • After the ward choir sings, Haley meets me in the aisle with, “Great show Mommy!”
  • Haley writes her name.
  • Carter’s first tooth (bottom left).

August

  • Carter cuts his 2nd tooth (bottom right).
  • Carter loves the beach. He loves to watch the waves crash and to run his toes through the sand.
  • When introduced to Great Grandma Reed, Haley exclaims, “How many Grandmas do I have?”
  • Haley loves Priscilla’s back yard so much that when she sees Blake and her friends back there, she says, “Hey! What are they doing in my back yard?”
  • Carter loves Priscilla and lunges for her at every chance.
  • Haley loves Sea World, and her favorite is the Shamu show, which she calls “Our friend Shambu.

September
  • Carter loves to watch Debby’s dog Samantha through the glass door.
  • Haley loves to swim with her new water wings, and Carter splashes like crazy.
  • After a very emotional day, Haley says “It’s a crying day.”
  • Carter dances to  a Jack Johnson CD.
  • Haley announces, “Starfish live under the water, and sharks live behind glass.”
  • When a song gets too high or low, Haley changes octaves perfectly.
  • Carter stays in his room all night!

October

  • Carter’s separation anxiety during my showers is so strong that now he cries any time he hears running water.
  • Carter goes from hands and knees to sitting.
  • Haley sings “The farmer is a cow” instead of “the farmer in the dell”.
  • Carter crawls.
  • Carter's favorite TV show is “Blue’s Clues."
  • Carter climbs up steps.
  • Carter falls down steps.
  • Haley’s first original composition: “And the babies kissed, and she said ‘It’s not fair,’ and he said, ‘It’s not fair, either,’ hey, hey, hey, hey.
  • Carter’s first bloody nose (hit on Grandma’s floor).
  • Carter pulls up on furniture.
  • Carter holds a sippy cup.
  • Haley: “Why does Daddy not like to spend money to go to Wal-Mart and the mall?”
  • Carter cries hysterically whenever he sees Daddy in his Halloween costume.
  • Carter waves bye-bye.
  • Carter cuts 3rd tooth (top left).
  • Carter starts cruising.
  • Whenever Haley finds a wish fairy, her wish is that, “a dolphin can jump up to the sky, and go to the library.”

November

  • Carter plays “So Big” with Haley.
  • Carter climbs the entire flight of stairs.
  • While Christmas shopping with Pat, Haley yells, “Put it in the cart, Grandma! Put it in the cart!”
  • Carter does “popcorn popping” actions with his hands.
  • Carter stands for 4-5 seconds.
  • Haley falls off the bed and lands on her head, tumbles down an entire staircase, and gets bitten by a dog all in one day.
  • Carter dribbles a soccer ball if helped to walk.
  • Haley gets the flu in San Diego.
  • Carter comes down with the flu also.
  • Haley exclaims, “Higher dolphins, higher!”during the Sea World dolphin show.
  • Haley anticipates the next note in a song she’s never heard (“What Child is This”).
  • Haley wants a broom for Christmas so she “can sweep all the yucky stuff off the floor!”

December

  • Haley: “Mom, are we far, far away on Judea’s plain?”
  • Carter plays pattycake.
  • Haley drenches herself, her clothes and the walls with Aquaphor ointment. I couldn’t get it out of her hair for two weeks – I even tried washing her hair with dish soap.
  • Carter stands.
  • Carter drops a full sippy cup on Haley’s lip and splits it wide open.
  • Carter’s 4th tooth (top right).
  • Haley: “Fine. I don’t love you any more ... OK, I love you a little ... OK, I love you a lot.” (Over being told to put socks on.)
  • Carter’s first visit with Santa (he screamed).
  • Carter climbs down the stairs.
  • Carter throws a ball.
